Exterior Restoration Work

 

This project in Stroud involved the extensive restoration of a large number of exterior timber windows and doors that had suffered years of exposure to direct sunlight. The UV damage had severely weathered the wood, causing significant fading, discolouration, and deterioration of the original finish.

To restore the timber, we first carried out a thorough preparation process, carefully removing the failed coatings and assessing the condition of the wood. Due to the severity of the sun damage, we utilised an oxalic acid treatment to rejuvenate the timber, effectively reducing staining, evening out the colour, and bringing the natural character of the wood back to life.

Once the restoration process was complete and the timber had fully recovered, all surfaces were meticulously prepared before applying a premium clear Osmo finish. This protective coating enhanced the natural beauty of the wood while providing long-lasting protection against the elements, allowing the grain and warmth of the timber to remain visible.

The result was a complete transformation, restoring the appearance of the windows and doors while preserving the integrity of the original timber. What began as heavily sun-damaged joinery was successfully brought back to a rich, natural finish, significantly improving both the aesthetic appeal and longevity of the property’s exterior woodwork.
